STAAR TORIC Intra-ocular Lens
In cataract surgery, or other lens-replacement procedures, vision is improved by replacing the eye's natural lens with an intra-ocular lens (IOL). Cataract surgery and IOL insertion are now faster and safer than ever before, However, pre-existing astigmatism that is left uncorrected can negatively affect vision. Approximately 15 to 20 percent of patients who need cataract surgery have astigmatism.
The STAAR TORIC IOL is an important advance in cataract surgery. It allows surgeons to correct astigmatism and perform cataract surgery with a single procedure.
Why we've invested in the STARR TORIC intra-ocular lens:
- The STAAR TORIC intra-ocular lens not only restores focus, but also reduces astigmatism.
- The STAAR TORIC intra-ocular lens is inserted through a tiny, clear corneal incision, requiring no stiches
- Prior to the introduction of the STARR TORIC intra-ocular lens, astigmatism, had to be corrected after cataract surgery with eyeglasses, or by making incisions into the cornea to change its curvature.
- Astigmatism that is left uncorrected can negatively affect vision.
